ABOUT US

The movement on wheels as we see it today,
took a long time to come about...
over eighteen hundred years to be precise.

The initial experiments with automobiles as we know, started in 1885,when Daimler made his first car.

For the automobile industry, things started moving very fast !!!

In 1898, the first automobile came to India, brought in by a municipal engineer, Mr. H. Hewitt. By the turn of the century, three Oldsmobile were imported to the country, all by the members belonging to the Zoroastrian faith: Mr.Jamshedji Tata, founder of the Tata Group of Industries, Rustom Cama, an attorney and Kavasji Wadia of Bombay Garage.

Founded in 1919, the Western India Automobile Association ( WIAA ), is one of the premier and largest motoring organizations in Asia with over 42,000 members on its roll. The head office of the Association is located in Bombay with branches in Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur, Jaipur and Goa.
