WIAA - Castrol Institute of Motoring - Alma Mater of Learned Drivers
You would be aware that the WIAA-Castrol Institute has commenced trainingsince the past 5 years. Road safety deserves the status of a specialized subject. Therefore, the institute is the first of its kind in the country to offer services which include in- depth education and training to different classes of road and vehicle users. It also incorporates a host of technical services to ensure safety and economy in handling of a vehicle.

The equipment and facilities available here, will aid Research and Training on Road safety.

Courses proposed are designed to not only impart knowledge on basic traffic rules but also incorporate social, economical, psychological, technical and scientific aspects having direct/indirect influence on matters related to road safety.

Most driving courses offer practical training and neglect theoretical training, which would actually enrich the student's knowledge on the vast subject of motoring. An appalling lack of theoretical knowledge leads to many motorists picking up a lot of wrong driving techniques. Motoring is a technical subject and it comprises of a sound data of technical base, besides having knowledge on various relevant aspects.

Courses offered are: Advanced Driving courses
(For Experienced Motorists only)
Highlights the importance of a motorist's mental and physical status and covers highway driving techniques related to high-speed braking, overtaking, cornering, hill driving night driving, driving emergencies and class room demonstrations of how common accidents are caused on highways due to the motorist's mistakes. Duration: Min. 4 hours.

Safe and Economical Motoring
(For professional/ paid drivers)
A full day's session on the mechanical aspects related to the working of the vehicle, and vehicle handling tips to avoid premature repairs.

The second session incorporates factors leading to accidents in cities and highways. The topics covered include common causes of driver/ Motorist related accidents.

Preliminary car driving

(For Fresh drivers/motorists) This course covers basic understanding of the new generation cars, fundamental driving techniques related to parking, reversing, forward driving, braking etc, as also incorporating factors leading to accidents in the cities.

Duration: 4 and 1/2 hours.

The contents of the courses can be customised to individual/ corporate requirement.

The first automobile came to Bombay in 1897. Soon the numberof carson Mumbai's roads swelled, to warrant the formation of a motoring body that would take up causes that plagued car owners even atthattime.

The Western India Automobile
Association has grown from a strength of 500 members - all Englishmen - to be the largest Automobile Association in South Asia, today.

The Association is headquartered in Mumbai. and offers its services in the states of Maharashtra, Cujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Goa. The Association has 6 branch offices apart from the HO in Mumbai. It offers all its members a wide variety of services ranging from issuing of learners' licenses to legal advice on motoring issues.

Apart from its original aims and objectives, the Association also undertakes to promote tourism within the country. In its very first decade since inception, the Association built up over 1400 routes covering nearly half a million miles. The WIAA is actively in touch with its counterparts in other countries, giving them the necessary travel information as a part of its program to attract tourists in India. The WIAA also has reciprocal service arrangements with other Automobile Associations and Clubs all overthe world.

The Association is recognised as India's major authority on motoring issues and represents its members' and motorists' interests to the Government and other sector and industry groups.
