Keoladeo Ghana National Park

A must for those with an interest in ornithology, Bharatpur is famous for its World Heritage-listed bird sanctuary, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The best time to visit the sanctuary is from October to February when many migratory birds can be seen. Different species of birds have been recorded at the Keoladeo sanctuary, of which number of which migrate from as far away as Siberia and China.

Vehicles are prohibited in the park, so the only way getting around is by bicycle or cycle-rickshaw. It's just about the only way you'll be able to watch the numerous kingfishers at close quarters. Boats can be hired from the ticket checkpoint. They are a very good way of getting close to the wildlife in this park. This is one bird sanctuary which even non-ornithologists should visit. It is open daily from 6 am to 6 pm.
