WILDLIFE RESERVES
Sunderbans Wildlife Sanctuary

The innumerable mouths of the Ganges form the world’s largest delta, and part of this vast mangrove swamp is a 2585-sq-km wild life reserve that extends into Bangladesh. It’s designated a World Heritage Site and as part of Project Tiger has one of the largest tiger populations of any of the Indian parks.

Incredibly, they are home to the legendary Royal Bengal tiger, a ferocious man-eater which has adapted remarkably well to this watery environment, and swims from island . The area has other attraction and you may see some wildlife, mainly spotted deer, wild pigs, wild boar, sharks, dolphins and large estuarine crocodiles. The best time to visit is in winter and spring.
