Carnet De Passages

What is a Carnet de Passage?

The Carnet de Passages en Douane, or CPD, is the international customs document which covers the temporary admission of motor vehicles to the territory of a state. The Carnet constitutes an international guarantee for payment of customs duties and taxes to a government should your vehicle not be re-exported from that country. The Carnet allows travellers to temporarily import their vehicles without having to leave a cash deposit at the border.

The CPD is still required today in numerous countries around the world for the temporary admission of private automobiles, commercial vehicles or other categories of motor vehicles.

It is commonly required for:

  • Cars
  • Motorcycles
  • SUVs
  • Camper vans
  • Commercially modified travel vehicles

The Carnet acts as a security guarantee for customs authorities and helps simplify international road travel.
